Institute of General Practice

Our interprofessional institute team integrates general practice and family medicine into university teaching, research projects and healthcare.

The courses in general practice and family medicine at the Faculty of Medicine are innovative, future-oriented and constantly updated. From the first semester onwards, students are introduced to the tasks and working methods of family medicine and are given a comprehensive picture of family medicine and GP practices as fundamental part of medical care. Excellent education is achieved together with colleagues from GP practices and in ongoing exchange with other institutes of general practice.

Research at our institute is as diverse as general practice and family medicine itself. Key topics are “family medicine and climate change”, “patient safety” and “e-health”. To achieve this, we carry out high-quality research projects and develop and test innovative concepts for GP practices and outpatient consultations. The transfer of these findings to multidisciplinary training and continuing education for healthcare professionals as well as to the general public is an essential part of our work.

Our institute provides regular GP consultations for acute and chronically ill patients.
