Block internship
The block internship in general medicine takes place between the eighth and ninth semester on ten consecutive days in an accredited training practice (with a remunerated special contract). The aim is to teach students how to work independently during consultation hours and to involve them in the decision-making processes of general practitioner care.
The lecturer from the practice grades the block placement with a grade relevant to the examination. For the grading scale, see the grading instructions.
Please select your training practice only from our list of available teaching practices.
The internship must be registered with the General Practice office before it begins. Students must register by sending an email to angelika.bergrath@uk-koeln.de, stating the practice details and the planned time period. You will then receive the documents required to create the block internship booklet by email via angelika.bergrath@uk-koeln.de.

Internship 1 dossier grade 4 = overall grade 3
Internship 1 dossier grade 3 = overall grade 2
Internship 2 dossier grade 1 = overall grade 1
Internship 3 dossier grade 1 = overall grade 2
The grades for the block internship in General Medicine are only entered in Klips once you have completed both parts (internship and dossiers).
The grade for the General Medicine subject block consists only of the written examination grade in the 4th clinical semester.
The General Practice block internship cannot be brought forward. It is possible at the earliest after completing the General Medicine block in the 8th semester.
In principle, the internship can also be completed during the semester if no compulsory courses are missed as a result.
The internship comprises 10 internship days, 1 splitting is possible. However, it must be completed in the same practice.
If there is a public holiday in the planned period (rotation timetable), this does not have to be made up. If you plan the internship outside the timetable and there is a public holiday in this period, you must make up for it.
The block internship can only be completed in a training practice with a cooperation agreement with the university.
