Longitudinal module in general medicine (LoMA)

As part of the establishment of the Institute for General Medicine at our medical faculty, the teaching of general medicine has also been revised. The new "Longitudinal Module General Medicine" (LoMA) now replaces the previous StudiPat program.

In LoMA, students from the second to the eighth semester are introduced to the most important aspects of holistic patient care in general medicine through modern courses and virtual case studies. This innovative and case-based learning approach combines digital, interactive self-study (blended learning), lectures, and practical small-group seminars.

In LoMA, students explore the diverse scope of general medicine. Key topics include:

  • Writing medical reports
  • Concise patient presentations
  • Communication techniques
  • Climate change and health
  • Sensitivity to diversity in patient interactions

The skills acquired can be applied and strengthened during a two-week clinical rotation in the 8th semester at one of the faculty's accredited primary care practice.
